Success by designing products for the beginner
Bill Myers

Want to make your web site, your product, your business more appealing to customers?

It's simple -- design for the entry level customer.

See, there are far more entry level customers out there than advanced ones. Probably a 100:1 ratio of entry level to advanced customers.

These 'entry level' customers don't want to jump through hoops or be forced to discover hidden mazes to use your product -- they just want a simple process to accomplish tasks quickly and easily.

They like web sites like Google, with a simple design, easy to use without any special training. When a first time visitor reaches the Google site, they don't have to guess what the site is about, or what they need to do to use it.

Maybe that is one reason for Google's extraordinary success. They designed for entry level visitors.

When you design for the entry level, you make it possible for people with all skill levels to use your product.

And isn't that what you really want?
