How to write compelling 'must-read' articles
Bill Myers

If your job is to write the kind of articles people are willing to pay to read, one of the easiest ways to accomplish this is to start your articles with a headline like:

"Seven reasons you should never . . ."
Or
"Five secrets to quickly becoming . . ."
Or
"Six ways to . . ."

Then, to make the headline really compelling, include a goal or objective or concern that is important to your target audience. Here are a few examples:

  • Six reasons why your product isn't selling well on the internet
  • Seven secrets of getting your own merchant account
  • The six most important words and phrases to include on your web site
  • Six tips to writing effective press release headlines
  • Seven tips for earning $10,000 or more in two days

After you write the headline, writing the article is a simple matter of coming up with the reasons, tips, or secrets that fulfill the promise in the headline.

And yes, all the headlines above are from actual articles on my own web site. And our site statistics show that these kinds of articles are always the most popular on the site.
