Extend your virtual office without losing your privacy
Bill Myers
Printer-Friendly Format

One of the advantages of being your own boss is you have the extraordinary freedom to come and go as you like.

But if your business depends on incoming phone calls from customers, leaving the office can mean leaving the phone unanswered.

Of course, you could give all your customers your cell phone number, even post it on your web site, but then you'd never have any privacy.

An easier way to stay in touch with customers during normal office hours -- without revealing your cell phone number to the outside world -- is to use 'call forwarding'.

With call forwarding, you can have calls automatically forwarded to your cell phone (or any phone number of your choice), just by dialing 72# and the number to be forwarded to.

Then when someone dials your office number and you're out, the call automatically forwards to your cell phone so you can answer it.

Whether we are hard at work in the office, or taking a walk on the beach, we never miss a business call during normal working hours - because we use call forwarding.

Call forwarding is available from all major phone service providers, and usually costs less than $4 a month.

It is one of tools we wouldn't want to be without.
