The Big Show
Bill Myers
I'm not much of a football fan, but I did tune in to the most recent SuperBowl. Not so much to watch well paid grown men chase each other across the field, but to watch the commercials. See, in my opinion, viewing commercials produced for the SuperBowl is a good way to view what the smartest (well, at least the best paid) minds in advertising think it takes to create an effective video message. Advertisers pay $2 million each to air a 30-second spot during the SuperBowl, and they go to unbelievable expense to create what they hope will be a memorable commercial event. So viewing the commercials for the event is much like viewing a series of short, but very expensive movies - without having to pay for a ticket. You get to see the best that money can buy, and if you look closely, you can learn a lot about the language of getting a message across in video. If you missed out on the SuperBowl commercials, you can view them all at http://www.bmyers.com/members/577.cfm.
