Flying under the Radar
Bill Myers
Printer-Friendly Format

Some of the most successful product developers are people you've never heard of. Here's why.

I was talking to a friend, who told me about his latest successful project.

He said, "This one looks like it will earn me $3,000 a month. But please don't tell anyone about this. The idea is just too easy to duplicate."

And frankly, he was right. The project is so simple and easy to reproduce, that if other product developers or marketers found out about it, they'd probably just clone what my friend is doing and go into competition with him.

This friend is not alone in wanting to keep his successful projects 'under the radar'. Many other product developers have learned that there is usually not much to gain, and a whole lot to lose, when you tell too many people what you're doing. Especially if those people are looking for ways to make money.

And that's why many of the project schemes you actually do hear about are almost worthless. If they really were a 'roadmap to riches', the developer would keep the knowledge all to himself, instead of trying to eek out a living selling his 'secret' to others.

So just because you aren't hearing about many successful projects, it doesn't mean they don't exist. It just means the developers of those projects are keeping the information to themselves. Because some ideas are too valuable to share.
