Perfecting Your Elevator Pitch
Bill Myers
Without a good elevator pitch you could blow that one chance in a million. It happens almost every day. Someone asks you 'what do you do?' Depending on who is asking the question, the answer you give could be your ticket to fame and fortune. In venture capital circles, your answer is what is commonly known as 'The 30 Second Elevator Pitch'. Typically, you have 30 seconds or less to describe your business or product in a way that will make the listener want to know more. Want to buy your product. Or buy your company. Try it now. Speak about your business or product (or what you do), in 30 seconds or less, in a way that makes the listener want to know more. Did you have polished intriguing presentation, or did you stumble and quickly run out of words? If you don't have a polished elevator pitch, you are doing yourself a disservice. And you could blow your big chance if it ever comes along. Now is the time to work on it - so you'll be ready the next time someone asks.
