The product

A few years back I wanted to create a CD ROM I could use as a 'free bonus' when customers subscribed to my print newsletter.

I knew that most of our customers were small businesses, so I wanted to create something useful to them.

To fill the need, I created the 593 Business Letters CD - a collection of 593 ready-to-use letters for almost all business occasions.

It was a good premium. Easy for customers to use, easy for me to ship, and I could get it duplicated for as little as 50 cents a copy.

Available for your use

I've decided to deed you the rights to sell or give away this CD. Yes, you can use this master to create a product you can sell or give away to your customers.

But you can't resell the rights, nor can you pass the CD masters on to others for them to create copies. The use of this master to create CDs is strictly restricted to subscribers of the Bill Myers Online website.

To create a CD using the 593 Business Letters CD master, do the following:

1. Go to the File Download area of this site, and download the 593 Business Letters CD master file.

2. Unzip the master CD file into an empty folder on your computer. After you unzip, the folder will have five files and a subfolder named 'letters'.

3. Copy the five files and the 'letters' subfolder to the root directory of the CD ROM you are creating (or a diskette if you prefer).

4. Note that this these files are for a CD Master, and they won't run unless you place them on a CD or diskette.

   If you don't have a CD ROM burner but want to see what is on the CD, copy all the contents of the master file to a diskette. Then place the diskette in your computer, and click on the 'letters.exe' file on the diskette.

5. The CD master is 'autorun' enabled - this means if you burn a CD from the master files, the completed CD will automatically start when placed in a computer.

6. I have shipped thousands of these CDs and never had a problem. The CD does not write any files to the customer's computer so it can't cause problems for the customer.

8. This CD will not run on a Mac - just Windows computers.

Restrictions

I am offering subscribers the rights to use the 593 Business Letters CD master to create your own CDs to give away or resell.

You may not sell or give away the the rights to anyone to use the master to create CDs.

This means you can not place the master files on your web site and offer it to your customers. Nor can you offer the resell rights to the master.

If you sell or give away the CD, you may not include my name on the CD nor may you make a reference to me in any promotion for or description of the CD.

If everyone will abide by these rules, I'll make other products available this same way. But if I see someone selling copies of this CD master on eBay or anywhere else, I won't make any more product masters available.

I think is a pretty fair arrangement.
