Attract a crowd by offering a template
Bill Myers - July 31, 2010

One way to create inviting and 'must have' content for your web site is to offer visitors 'ready-to-use' templates for the tools or software they already use.

For example, if you write an article about doing something with Microsoft Word, you can add tremendous value to the article by including a ready-to-use MS Word template the reader can use to immediately accomplish what you showed in the article.

These kinds of templates can be extremely valuable - especially when you provide a template that turns a difficult task into a no brainer when using the template.

The template saves the visitor hours of works, and gives them an immediate sense of accomplishment.

Here's an example.

This week, I posted a video on my site showing how to turn photos into fast moving animated film strips across a photo wall video background.

This technique is ideal for creating tribute videos or product or event promotions - as you can present a lot of information in very short video.

But creating this kind of video can be a lot of work . . . unless you have a ready-to-use project template with all the work already done for you.

And that's exactly what I provided our members - a complete, ready-to-use, project template to create animated tribute videos from photos.

Templates like these are the kind of content that can keep visitors coming back to your site, and give them a reason to tell others about the great things you do.

You probably already have many documents, spreadsheets, and other projects which can be offered as templates . . . maybe even enough to sell as a download or offer on a CD.

So don't overlook their value. They may be just what you need to create compelling content for your web site, or great stand-alone products.
