Domain Name Investments
Bill Myers - July 16, 2010
Printer-Friendly Format

This might sound crazy, but if you plan to sell or rent your home in the future, you might want to take a few minutes to register the street address of your home as a domain name.

For example, if the home address is 123 Hillcrest, you might want to register 123hillcrest.com as a domain name.

That way, should you get ready to rent or sell the place, you'll have a domain name you can send people to to find out more about the property.

Registering the domain name costs less than $8.00, and is a small investment that can pay offer later.

And while registering your street address as a domain name, be sure to check to see if your own name or family member names are available as domain names.

If they are available, be sure to register those as well.

Reserving your own or your child's name as a domain name, can establish your identity on the web for now and for the future.

Of course, you'll also want to register domain names for products you develop, to protect those from being used by competitors who might try to divert customers looking for you.

When it comes to domain names, I always register them with http://www.Godaddy.com, and I always use a coupon code to get the best price.

For example, this past week I renewed 12 domain names at Godaddy, and using the coupon code 'QUEEN3' I got 30% off the price.

This meant the renewals cost me $7.49 each, instead of $10.99.

I'm not a GoDaddy affiliate or anything, I just like saving money when registering and renewing the 100+ domain names I manage.
