Getting top dollar when selling on eBay
Bill Myers - April 16, 2010
Printer-Friendly Format

Here's the secret to selling your items quickly on eBay, getting full asking price, even when there are many similar items being offered at lower prices

I own far too many cameras. Many of which I no longer use.

And since I'm not planning to start a camera museum, it was time to sell some of them.

My plan was to sell them individually on eBay.

But since there are a lot of cameras and camcorders for sale on eBay, I wanted to do something to make my listings stand out from the crowd.

To do that, I created a short video of the camera I was selling, and added that video to my eBay auction listing.

And even though there were many other cameras on eBay exactly like the one I was selling, mine sold for full price within 90 minutes of my auction going live - and at a higher price than any of the others listed.

The reason?

The video in my auction showed potential bidders that the item was real, that the seller was real, and seeing the video gave them the confidence to bid - and even pay a higher price.

Lesson learned: if you are selling expensive items on eBay, you can significantly increase your chances of getting more and higher bids by including a video of the item being sold.

I've posted an article in the members section of our site showing the video I created, the auction listing, and the technique of shooting and including videos within eBay auctions. Find it at http://www.bmyers.com/members/1815.cfm
