Make it easy for your customers to decide to buy from you
Bill Myers - January 30, 2010
Printer-Friendly Format

If you want to increase the sales from your web pages, follow these six simple tips

If you want to sell something, make it easy for the customer to make the decision to buy

I repeat, "make it easy for the customer to make the decision to buy!"

To do this:

  1. Remove distractions from the buying decision process

  2. Remove negatives about the product or offer

  3. Remove complications that cause the customer to say 'let me think about it'

  4. Include something extra that makes the customer want to buy it now

  5. Make the actual ordering easy. Give the customer their choice of payment options and a simple order form to fill out.

  6. And most importantly . . .

  7. Don't distract or anger the customer once they have decided to make a purchase.

Sounds like common sense, right?

But so many web sites miss all six of the items on the above list.

They have too many distractions on their sales pages, they have complicated offers, they leave questions unanswered, they surprise you with hidden charges, then require you to fill out a multipage order form.

On these kinds of sites, if you do decide to make a purchase, you're probably angry before you complete the process.

And that's what you want to avoid.

Again, its worth repeating . . .

If you want to sell something, make it easy for the customer to make the decision to buy.
