What would Amazon Do? And why you should too!

Learn from Amazon's actions

As I mentioned in a last week's tip, my wife and I both completed new DVD/CD products.

One of the first things we did after adding the products to our shopping cart, was to add the products to the Amazon Advantage marketing program.

And then we created and uploaded videos to YouTube with information about our products.

Next on our list was to send emails to customers who had purchased our previous videos, and let them know about these latest ones.

But Amazon beat us to the punch.

See, just three days after we added our latest products to Amazon, they sent emails to customers who had purchased our products through Amazon, letting them know about our new ones.

And they also sent emails to people who had purchased products related to ours (but not our products) telling them they might be interested in these latest products.

By contacting customers who had made previous related purchases, Amazon knew they were contacting the people who were most likely to purchase our latest products.

And this is a smart move on their part.

And something that all product developers and internet marketers should take note of.

If you create new products, the most likely customers for those new products are usually the same people who purchased your previous products.

And often, the only way they'll find out about those new products is if you tell them.

Of course, you don't want to send spam, so be careful about who and how you send your new product announcements.

If you want to see how Amazon does it, visit the discussion forum on our web site, and you'll see a screen capture of the email they sent out.
