Going back to what works

Going back to what works A recent article by Jakob Neilson pointed out that most people hate change. Whether it be changes to their favorite software program or changes to a web site they visit regularly, users will often complain if familiar designs or features are changed. In fact, if you want to insure you get angry email from customers, make design or feature changes to products they have learned to use. Still, it seems like the business model 'du jour' is to continually make changes - often just for the sake of having something new or different to offer. And all too frequently, the changes are unwanted, unneeded, and generate more problems than solutions. Then when the business discovers the latest changes aren't working, they decide the only solution is to change again to something new. And in some cases, this might work. But in many cases, businesses would be better served by reviewing what in the past has worked for them, and then going back to that proven business model rather than trying something new and untested. With this in mind, I've posted 3 articles on my site that include more than 50 project ideas based on business models which have proven to generate revenue for small businesses and entrepreneurs. All are based on the basic business principle of discovering what people with money want to buy right now, and then making that item easy for them to find and purchase. It's not a new idea. But it works.
