Just for fun - some video outtake
Bill Myers - August 1, 2009
Printer-Friendly Format

One of the advantages (or disadvantages) of being a full time product developer working from home, is you get to spend a lot of time with your spouse - especially if she (or he) is also working from home.

Since both my wife and I work from home, we are usually available when one of us needs help with projects or problems we're working on.

For example, I was testing a new green screen video technique, and needed someone to stand in front of the green screen while I shot video.

Not only did my wife volunteer, she got into the spirit by donning foul weather gear while acting like a weather girl during a hurricane - as I shot video of her against the greenscreen.

Of course, I wasn't going to be left out, so I also took my turn in front of the greenscreen as the camera rolled.

Later on, I added different video backgrounds to complete my greenscreen testing, and we had a good laugh watching our on-screen antics.

But this wasn't just play time.

This was actually part of product development, and I was able to used what I learned during this session in one of the DVDs I was working on.

This is the kind of thing we do all the time - help each other with projects while having fun doing it.

And this is probably the number one reason I love being a product developer.

I get to spend time at home working on things I love, with the people I want to be around the most.

To see outtakes of the greenscreen tests mentioned above, check out the video at http://www.bmyers.com/public/1660.cfm
