Getting the ear of a reporter
Bill Myers - February 28, 2009

If you read the article on my site, you know what not to say to a news reporter about your business, and why.

But how do you get a reporter to write about your business in the first place?

One way is to join HARO (Help A Reporter Out) - a free site where reporters seeking sources or people they can quote in articles, post requests.

After you join HARO, you'll get to view requests posted by reporters, and if one of those requests is something you know about, you can contact the reporter via email with details.

I joined HARO earlier this week, and immediately found a reporter wanting to interview someone who creates tutorials and posts them on YouTube.

Like I mentioned above, HARO is free to join. You only have to promise not contact a reporter unless your knowledge matches their request.

This is a pretty neat service - but only if you'd like to have your business written about.
