Out with the Old, in with the New
Bill Myers - January 10, 2009
While it may seem that 2009 just got here, anything on your web site with a 2008 date can already appear old and outdated. That's why you'll want to make sure dates appearing on your site are current. For example, if you display copyright dates on your web pages (which you should), make sure they are current (change to 2009). Same is true with articles containing dates. For example, the phrase 'New for 2008' already sounds outdated - while 'New for 2009' sounds fresh. Change these date references in articles, sales pages, press releases - in fact everywhere appropriate. And finally, make sure the selection list of credit card expire dates in your order forms reflects the new year. Remove 2008 from the list, and make sure your list has options for 2009 through 2016. These small changes can freshen the look of your entire site - and keep your site from becoming stale.
