Domain Naming for Success
Bill Myers - May 10, 2008
Amazon, eBay and Google all have one thing in common. They all have easy to remember, easy to pronounce, easy to spell domain names. No numbers, no dashes, and all ending in .com. And while having a great domain name isn't the only reason these companies are successful, it is definitely a part of it. For your own internet projects your domain name can help make you a success, or cause you to be invisible (especially if the domain name can't be pronounced, can't be easily spelled, and can't be remembered). You may be thinking that all the great domain names are taken, and there is little chance you can get the domain name that would work best for your project. But you'd be wrong. In fact, many great domain names are still available. You just need to know where (and how) to find them. In an article I posted to my site this week, I show how I found (and captured) the perfect domain name for my next project - even though it was already registered to someone else. The article can found at http://www.bmyers.com/members/1440.cfm If you are not a member of our site (and you really should be), you can find a short video I created for the article on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxuWOK3maK4 I think you will be amazed at the domain names you can find using this technique.
