The curse of invisibility
Bill Myers - May 2, 2008
Printer-Friendly Format

Militaries around the world spend billions trying to develop fighter planes and ships which have some sort of 'cloak of invisibility'.

That's because in battle, an enemy that can't see you, usually can't shoot you.

But in the world of sales, especially on the internet, being invisible to those who want to purchase your products is a real curse.

Because if customers can't find you, they can't buy from you.

Here's an example.

I recently read a forum post about a self published book on a hobby I'm interested in.

The book sounded like something I'd want, so I went to Amazon to order a copy. But the book wasn't on Amazon.

I then went to Google to search for the book. But Google couldn't find the book either.

I then went to eBay - and again, no results.

As far as Google, Amazon, and eBay were concerned, the book didn't exist. Which meant that none of the 800 million people who use the Internet would be able to find or order the book.

If you want to avoid this kind of invisibility, be sure you have: * Google optimized sales page * have links to your pages from other pages and sites on the web * have a Google AdWords ad for the title of the product * and if possible, have the product listed on Amazon.

Doing this will make your product easy to find on the web.

One final note: Even if you believe your product isn't invisible, try searching Amazon, Google, and eBay for it.

If you don't find it in those searches, it is invisible.
