Running the numbers: using your head and your heart
Bill Myers
Printer-Friendly Format

A few weeks back, I found a cool tool that makes it easy to convert excel worksheets into web pages.

Since getting that tool, I've been converting all my project analysis worksheets into web pages and placing them on my site so others can use them.

These spreadsheets let you see the cost and revenue potential of various projects, and because they are interactive you can see how changing variables can impact the project.

But even with the hundreds of calculations programmed into these spread sheets, they still can't show one of the most important considerations for any project.

And that consideration is: "Is your heart really in this project?"

Usually, if your heart is not in the project, you won't see it to completion, no matter how high the revenue potential.

So do run the numbers on a project. And then listen to your heart before you take the plunge.
