Dealing With Buy-Out Offers
Bill Myers
Printer-Friendly Format

One of the great things about being an independent product developer is knowing that the next phone call you get could be a buy-out offer.

It really does happen - people call and make an offer to buy the ownership rights to your product, your web site, or even your company.

Through the years, I've received buy-out offers for every product I have developed. And the offers continue even to this day (I get more offers than I have products to sell).

Of course, not every product will generate a buyout offer.

But you can significantly increase the chance your products will be buy-out targets by designing in those elements that make them more 'buy-out friendly'.

Do that, and the next time the phone rings, it could be someone with a buy-out offer for the product you developed.
